VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., July 10, 2002- Pat Robertson will be honored
by the Chicago chapter of the ZOA for his consistent support of Israel
with the State of Israel Friendship Award on Sunday, July 14.
Robertson has been an enthusiastic and vigorous supporter of Jewish
causes throughout all his years of public service. He frequently voices
his support for Israel's war against terrorism and her inalienable right
to exist as a free, democratic society on his national television broadcast,
The 700 Club.
As a result of his unyielding support, Robertson has also been recognized
with the Millennium Jerusalem 2000 Council Award by the State of Israel
Jerusalem Heritage Study Programs, Defender of Israel Award in 1994
by the Christians' Israel Public Action Campaign, and the Distinguished
Merit of Citation Award in 1979 by the National Conference of Christians
and Jews.
On his numerous trips to Israel, Dr. Robertson has met with such dignitaries
as Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Minister of Foreign Affairs Shimon Peres,
former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, Chairman Yasser Arafat, and Israeli
spokesman Dori Gold.
