Peace: The Wall of Partition
Abolished
"For Christ himself has made peace between us Jews and
you Gentiles by making us all one people. He has broken down the wall
of hostility that used to separate us. By his death he ended the whole
system of Jewish law that excluded the Gentiles. His purpose was to make
peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new person
from the two groups. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups
to God by means of his death, and our hostility toward each other was
put to death. He has brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who
were far away from him, and to us Jews who were near." (Ephesians
2: 14-17, NLT)
This
teaching from Pat Robertson followed a story on The 700 Club
about a former Palestinian terrorist and a former Israeli soldier. They
became best friends after both accepted Christ.
There is only one answer ladies and gentlemen to the hatred in the
Middle East and the hatred going on between Palestinians and Jews, and
that is Jesus Christ.
The (King James version of the) Bible talks about a middle wall of
partition. A middle wall. And that middle wall was in the Synagogue.
That kept certain people away from other people.
On
the one hand, there may have been the Jews and on the other, were others,
whoever it was.
And Paul said that Jesus has abolished the middle wall of partition.
He has taken it out. And therefore, he says that in the Church, in Christianity,
there is neither Jew nor Gentile. There is neither male nor female.
There is neither slave nor free. All are in Christ Jesus. (Galations 3:28)
This is the answer. He takes away the middle wall of partition, and
He takes away those things that separate us.
You
see, the feminists want to fight the men, so there is a big clash going
on. The young people want to fight the old people, and vice versa. The
Jews want to fight the Palestinians. The Palestinians want to fight
the Jews. There is Jew and Gentile. There is Catholic and Protestant.
And all of these are fighting,
But in Christ we can come together with the spirit of reconciliation.
He took away the middle wall of partition. Whatever wall we have had
between us and others, He's taken away. And we don't have to worry about
racial quotas. We love people. And the fact that somebody has a darker
or lighter skin is of no consequence.
What is important is what is in people's hearts. In Jesus we are brought
together.
There is no such thing as a pagan or non-pagan in Christ. If you're
in Christ, you're in Christ. Ladies and gentlemen, that's what we have
to pray, that somehow Jesus in His glory will bring about that reconciliation.
And I think it is going to happen. The two we saw on The 700 Club today are just the precursor. We need millions more like them.
